Description 

  • Understand, practice, and teach basic safe cargo handling onshore and inside an MPP Vessel, Ro-Ro vessel, or barge. 

  • Understand, practice, and teach basic rigging methods that comply with the OSHA standards for overhead lifting. 

  • Understand stow plans and can communicate with Port Captains or carriers of necessary changes to improve vessel efficiency. 

  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance 

  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule. 

  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math. 

  • Learn from directions, observations, and lessons learned to improve safety and productivity. 

  • Working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principles 

  • Assist the Terminal Manager in the oversight of the operation, with SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT being the highest priorities. 

  • Supervise, lead, train, and develop all team members. 

  • Must be available and flexible to work all shifts as business needs require. 

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence. 

  • Be able to participate in customer meetings to build relationships. 

  • Maintain and develop a safety culture among all team members. 

  • Ensure that team members receive the proper training to perform their jobs. 

  • Routine communication and coordination with other corporate departments

  • Complete all applicable documentation and recordkeeping, including billing/ship files. 

  • Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Complete team member performance reviews. 

  • Assess disciplinary action. 

  • Conduct team member efficiency testing 

  • Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Machines, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used 

PPE; vest, hard hat, gloves, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, radio, computer terminal 

 

  

Requirements 

  • Basic Microsoft Office (word and excel) and email skills, 

  • Customer service skills 

  • Leadership Skills 

  • Coaching skills 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Prefer 2 years of supervisory experience 

  • Valid driver's license. 

  • Valid TWIC at all times.
