General Purpose
The Transportation Internship is a 12-week paid program that will provide valuable insight into the transportation industry and the basic understanding of transportation principles. The Transportation Intern (TI) will play a crucial role in the overall “day-to-day” freight management of shipments and/or assigned shipping accounts. It is essential for the TI to garner customer trust, while complementing and supplementing the duties of a Transportation Assistant (TA) and Transportation Coordinator (TC).
Essential Duties
- Shipment tracking and tracing
- Order entry
- Scheduling loading and/or unloading appointments
- Learn how to broker transportation shipments and securing carrier capacity
- Gain understanding in to conducting spot pricing, rate negotiations, and handling related concerns
- Billing – ensure required documents are obtained and customer invoicing requirements are met
- Customer and/or carrier communications
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program and in good standing at an accredited college or university.
- Majoring in business, supply chain management, sales, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, or economics is preferred.
- Interested in pursuing a career in logistics and/or sales.
- Must be able to work 40 hours a week and complete the 12-week program.
- Any class level is able to apply, Junior or Senior level preferred.

- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to work well with others and be a positive influence on co-workers
- Strong phone and communication skills
- Effective customer service skills and the ability to service both internal and external customers

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive team member and supplier contact and frequent interruptions.
