Starting Pay Rate: $25.05 per hour, $29.47 After 180-day progression
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 Hour Shifts, Possible OT
Primary purpose
Work with crews loading/unloading barges, trucks and rail cars by operating a variety of equipment.
Job Description
Load and unload barges, trucks and rail cars as part of a crew. Operate a variety of equipment such as, but not limited to: front end loader, forklift and hand tools. Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk handling equipment. Service and lubricate machines and equipment, operating repaired equipment to verify conformance to specification. Assist in the transport and movement of bulk products such as coal and salt. As directed, perform activities of co-workers. Perform work area housekeeping functions and help in providing equipment maintenance to operational area and equipment as directed by supervision. All other duties as assigned.
Experience and Specific Knowledge
- Prefer experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts and skid steer loaders.
- Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to read, write and speak clearly.
- Must be willing to acquire forklift certification, if needed.
- The ability to take initiative and work with co-workers to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Must obtain Safety training/certification as required by customers to work in their facilities and as required by Watco Companies at all locations.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions, as a majority of the time will be working outside.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, sit or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs.
- Must not have a fear of water or heights.
- The ability to swim is a plus.
Job requirements
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- First and second-shift work will be required.
- Must be willing to work overtime hours during the week and/or weekends and holidays depending on the demands of the business and based on seniority.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC card.
