Job Summary
The Fleet Mechanic reports directly to the Fleet Supervisor and is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a diverse fleet of company vehicles ranging from light-duty pickups and service trucks to medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks, including semi tractors.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong diagnostic skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and a commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain company fleet vehicles, including: Light-duty pickups, service trucks, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks and semi tractors
• Diagnose and repair: diesel and gasoline engines, automatic and manual transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension and steering components, HVAC systems, electrical and charging systems, brake systems
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled services
• Utilize diagnostic software, scan tools, and manufacturer service information to identify and repair vehicle issues
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical manuals
• Maintain accurate service records, including inspections performed, repairs completed and parts used
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Assist with roadside service calls and emergency repairs as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience
• Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
• Must provide and maintain personal hand tools required for the position
• Driver's License is required
• Required to successfully complete all required safety training
• Able to become A/C certified if requested
Preferred:
• Experience working with Power Stroke, Duramax and Cummins engines
• Hydraulic system diagnosis and repair experience
• Welding and fabrication experience
• CDL or Ability to obtain one
