Salary Range: $78,000 - $83,000
Schedule: 12 Hour Rotating Shifts
General Purpose
Located in an industrial area, the Ghent Marine Terminal is accessible by rail, river, and truck. Rail transloading and barge stevedoring are just two of the services that the team provides on-site. In this role, you will be supervising operations pertaining to the loading and offloading of scrap metal and alloys from barges, rail cars and trucks using heavy equipment while working with office personnel, customers, and vendors to ensure material releases and shipments are correct.
The Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Terminal Manager.
Position Description
- Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance
- Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
- Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
- Learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment.
- Working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principles
- Assist the Terminal Manager in the oversight of the operation with SAFETY and ENVIRONMENT being the highest priorities next to financial stewardship.
- Supervise, lead, train and develop all team members.
- Must be available and flexible to work all shifts as business needs require.
- Fill in for team membrs when necessary.
- Basic maintenance knowledge and trouble shooting skills.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Be able to participate in customer meetings to build relationships.
- Maintain and develop safety culture among all team members.
- Ensure that team members receive the proper training to perform their jobs.
- Routine communication and coordination with other corporate departments.
- Complete all applicable documentation and recordkeeping including billing train pre-release and first car notification.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate via radio and cell phone to both fellow team members and customer.
- Complete team member performance reviews.
- Assess disciplinary action
- Monitor team member attendance, vacation and over all schedule.
- Conduct team member interviews
- Conduct team member efficiency testing.
- Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, & weekends.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Basic Microsoft Office (word and excel) and email skills,
- Customer service skills
- Leadership & Coaching skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 2 years' experience in industrial work setting
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
Machines, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used
- Operate a wheel loader, bulldozer and skid steer. Must be able to operate a vehicle on public and private roads, power tools, wrenches and basic tools.
- PPE; reflective clothing, hard hat, gloves, steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, radio
