Job Summary

Schedule: M-F, 7:00am - 3:00pm

Hourly Rate: $25.00 to start (dependent on exprience)

Independently operate a boom truck with grapple to haul rail ties, railroad materials, and construction equipment throughout western Kansas and to the eastern Colorado state line. Perform daily inspections, transport backhoes between job sites, and ensure safe and efficient completion of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


• Demonstrate working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating Principles 

• Operate manual transmission vehicles (shift gears as required) 
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and accurately complete condition reports 
• Maintain a clean and organized trailer ready for loading 
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and federal/state regulations 
• Communicate professionally and effectively with team members, dispatch, and customers 
• Respond promptly to accidents, incidents, or emergency situations 
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning vehicle at all times 
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and compliance requirements 
• Assist in mentoring and training new or less experienced personnel 
• Enter and exit vehicles as needed for fueling and inspections; must be able to walk around the truck and perform tasks in extreme weather conditions 
• Work effectively as part of a team, follow directions, and take on additional responsibilities as needed 
• During downtime you may assist the track laborer gangs

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 
• Must have a Class A CDL driver’s license with no restrictions (operate maual transmission)
