POSITION OVERVIEW
As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you will be the responsible for ensuring equipment operations remain at peak performance, with minimal downtime. You will support and maintain responsibility for the efficient installation, repair, and servicing of the equipment that you will be operating on a day-to-day. This role will require the ability to maintain regular communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work in an environment that prioritizes safety and efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate primarily heavy equipment including but not limited to conveyors, scraper systems, wheel loaders, motor graders and other similar mechanical and industrial machinery.
- Apply expert-level knowledge of mechanical work, welding and metal fabrication, and other industrial fields to service and repair equipment.
- Follow and apply safety standards prioritizing quality and efficiency while working well independently or with others and demonstrating a sense of urgency and purpose.
- Communicate mechanical issues and complex maintenance issues to team members, management and other required and relevant internal stakeholders as needed, in a timely manner.
- Serve as a preventative maintenance resource for the Houston Material Handling division.
- Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and analyze technical problems effectively.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies; report potential safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Minimum 5 years advanced-level experience in breakdown industrial and production maintenance preferred
- Extensive experience and expert proficiency in mechanics, conveyor systems, pneumatics, welding and metal fabrication, including the ability to troubleshoot.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to adopt new procedures and prioritize safety.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety practices in an industrial setting.
- Excellent communication skills in English (bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, perform repetitive motions, and climb and work from ladders.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to pass and or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
- High School Diploma or general education development (GED)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role requires mobility and manual dexterity to navigate an industrial warehouse environment, including the use of standard office equipment. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in person and via radio or phone and have the vision to read various materials and inspect safety signs. Physical tasks include lifting to 50 pounds, using ladders and power tools, and performing fieldwork in various weather conditions while being exposed to noise, dust, and machinery.
