Job Summary
The LTL Pricing Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the company’s profitability and competitive position within the less than truckload (LTL) market. This position is responsible for analyzing freight data, developing pricing strategies, and supporting sales and operations teams with accurate, market aligned pricing decisions. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail oriented, and comfortable working in a fast paced logistics environment where precision and speed matter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure all communications with customers are addressed promptly and professionally
• Prepare customer-specific pricing proposals and bids
• Prioritize tasks to ensure all bids are completed accurately and sent within deadlines
• Develop, analyze, and implement strategies that align with company financial objectives
• Analyze freight rates, fuel costs, accessorial charges, and market conditions to support competitive pricing
• Develop and maintain rate matrices, tariff structures, and lane-specific pricing models
• Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to ensure pricing strategies are effectively executed
• Monitor carrier pricing trends and maintain relationships with carriers to secure competitive rates
• Collaborate with operations to ensure pricing strategies align with service capabilities
• Negotiate pricing terms with clients and vendors to achieve favorable outcomes
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for margin improvement
• Support contract negotiations by providing data-driven pricing recommendations
• Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure pricing effectiveness
• Identify areas for process improvement in pricing practices and implement best practices
• Update CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) with activities and generate reports as needed
• Conduct ongoing customer needs analysis, and research of customer requirements
• Benchmark company pricing against industry standards to identify gaps and opportunities
• Participate in professional training activities to gain knowledge of industry trends
• Assist with special projects, reporting, and other tasks assigned
• Source new revenue opportunities by researching key account contacts
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The attributes listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
• Familiarity with LTL tariffs, NMFC classifications, and carrier rating systems
• Experience in LTL, freight brokerage, or transportation pricing
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with cross functional teams
• Ability to interpret large datasets and translate insights into actionable recommendations
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
• A deep understanding of LTL cost drivers and market dynamics
• Accurate, timely pricing that balances competitiveness and profitability
