Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive, corrective, and general maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations across Watco terminals and industrial sites. This role works both independently and collaboratively with operations and management teams, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed effectively while following all safety procedures in a dynamic industrial environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers to coordinate work priorities and complete repairs for safe and efficient operations 
•Work independently or as part of a team, following written and verbal instructions to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule 
•Follow all safety rules and site-specific procedures 
•Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with a professional and safety-focused attitude 
•Ability to plan and prioritize maintenance tasks efficiently 
•Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under time-sensitive conditions 
•Conduct regular inspections and functional checks of equipment, systems, and safety devices to ensure compliance and performance 
•Follow all Watco Safety and Operating Principles and PPE requirements, maintaining a safe work environment at all times 
•Respond to emergency callouts or off-hours maintenance needs as required by operations 
•Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and inventory usage to ensure proper tracking and documentation 
•Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facility systems across terminal and industrial environments 
•Perform preventative maintenance such as lubrication, oil sampling, and fluid testing 
•Conduct routine inspections of equipment, systems, and grounds, identifying potential safety or maintenance issues before failures occur 
•Operate mobile or mechanical equipment as required to perform maintenance tasks safely and efficiently 
•Operate hand and power tools to assemble or repair mechanical components and parts 
•Move, inspect, and adjust machinery and safety components to ensure proper operation and alignment 
•Diagnose and repair equipment and assets, including dismantling, assembling, and installing parts or performing service on machinery 
•Demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and mobile equipment systems and the ability to diagnose or repair heavy machinery 
•Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems to maintain safe and efficient operations 
•Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine proper repair methods and procedures 
•Performs other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

Previous experience in industrial, terminal, or mechanical maintenance preferred 
Vocational or technical training in maintenance, welding, hydraulics, or a related field beneficial but not required 
Previous experience driving yard vehicles 

Education

High School or GED equivalent
