Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000

 

Primary Purpose

 

Located on President’s Island, Watco’s Memphis Terminal offers transload capabilities accessible by barge, rail, and truck, as well as indoor and outdoor storage options. Operations Supervisor will report directly to the Terminal Manager.

 

Position Description

  • Planning, directing, providing daily safety briefing, and organizing the activities of equipment operators, deck hands, as well as supervising coal plant personnel and maintenance personnel.
  • Responsible for understanding, adhering to, and communicating both company and facility goals,  policies and procedures in a team environment.
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of terminal activities and related off-site facilities in meeting safety, quality, and operational goals.
  • Supervising operations pertaining to the loading and offloading of barges, rail cars and trucks using heavy equipment while working with office personnel, customers, and vendors to ensure material releases and shipments are correct.
  • Determine and maintain record of required facility maintenance and ensure the general good order and cleanliness of the terminal.
  • Daily interaction with the Terminal Manager.
  • Managerial and personnel duties, including verification of timecards, absenteeism records, shift staffing, cross training, training of new hires in recording of daily policy and quality audits, and applying disciplinary policy as needed.
  • Responsible for interacting effectively and respectfully with all facility personnel and customers.
  • Upon completion of training, this position will be expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of all products handled and terminal personnel capabilities.
  • Set example to employees for safety, quality and environmental compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with Watco operations environmental compliance tracking software.
  • Mentor, lead, direct and train terminal employees.

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • College education is preferred.
  • Minimum two years leadership experience in an industrial environment.
