Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour.

The Transportation Assistant (TA) plays a crucial role in the overall "day-to-day" management of freight shipments while garnering customer trust and supplementing the duties of the Account Manager and/or Transportation Coordinator. This position has a broad range of transportation and business-related duties including operational, accounting, and customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Track and trace customer shipments
- Manage order entries
- Schedule loading and/or unloading appointments
- Provide communication to customers and carriers
- Process billing while ensuring required documents are obtained and customer invoicing requirements are met
- Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers
- Perform additional administrative tasks as requested
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
- Strong organization, communication, and time management skills
- Possess basic computer skills- Microsoft Excel, Word
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
- Ability to work with others and be a positive influence on co-workers
- Strong phone and email communication skills
- Ability to multi-task despite frequent interruptions
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with extensive team member and supplier contact and frequent interruptions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms as well as speak, hear and see clearly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
