Hourly pay rate: $18.00

Day Shift Schedule: Either M-F OR 4 days on, 4 days off. Must be available for both shifts. 

 

General Purpose

 

Watco's New Johnsonville Terminal handles primarily dry bulk products (petroleum coke, rock salt, and titanium ore)  As a Utility Operator, you will assist the other Operators with removing and resetting barge covers, climbing in and out of barges, operating a skid steer to move materials, and railcar discharging.


Position Description

 

  • Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performance.
  • Ability to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to use ladders to access barges.
  • Ability to work near water.
  • Remove and reset barge covers
  • Secure and assist in moving barges as needed
  • Communicate with other team members using a two-way radio
  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math.
  • Learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment.
  • Working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principles
  • The primary function of the Utility person is to assist personnel in safely and effectively performing all required duties/tasks by maintaining all mechanical operations at the transload stations
  • Perform structural inspections as required.
  • Monitor equipment for SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL compliance.
  • Perform maintenance on all equipment.
  • Responsible for the operation as it relates to pipelines, compressors, auxiliary, equipment, engines, pump stations, pumps, valves, and other related equipment.
  • Ensure the cost-effective and efficient performance of all engines, pumps, and associated equipment at the compressor stations and pipelines.
  • Complete required inspections per shift.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Provide support to supervisor as needed.
  • Front-line customer service.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as, take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assigned.
  • Flexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays.


Requirements  

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • General knowledge of tools and mechanical background
  • A Valid Drivers License is preferred but not required for this position
