An Agile Business Analyst is responsible for modeling business processes, identifying opportunities for software to achieve better business outcomes, and evaluating alternative solutions. By building effective relationships with business areas, they accurately capture a user personas' important characteristics, goals, motivations, and problems. They decompose the ideal solution into logical components. They explain the benefit of the ideal solution to users and the business; active engagement on projects supporting the Product Owner/agile development team to deliver key capability product features based on business priorities. This role will be responsible for understanding business requirements and writing executable user stories.

 

Responsibilities

 

You will be responsible for understanding the business functions of the product and authoring detailed stories and requirements for agile engineering teams. Documenting requirements that are clear, buildable, testable, and based on detailed designs.  You will serve as product owner proxy and have the opportunity to work within a fast-paced agile environment. Acting as point of contact that interacts with the agile teams and accepts or rejects work products from development.
 

  • Collaborate with product owners to create product backlogs using Agile practices.
  • Facilitate brainstorming sessions to create the main and the secondary user journey maps to create a product map; figure out the details of the problem the product is supposed to solve and how to define a successful implementation. to understand and capture functional and non-functional design and rules requirements.
  • Responsible for defining and documenting product requirements - Providing user stories to cross functional teams and ensuring user stories are ready, backlog grooming, and writing stories acceptance criteria for deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner/agile development team to make sure all team questions resolved, and details are clearly outlined into well-articulated user stories.
  • Document key decisions, action items, and outstanding questions from meetings and distribute the meeting minutes to necessary stakeholders
  • Facilitate Agile processes such as release planning, refinement of the backlog.
  • Solution oriented and collaborative approach to helping to define/refine release scope and driving a timely system release roadmap

 

Skills & Experience

 

  • Ability to pinpoint the target audience, build effective relationships with business areas using business and system analysis skills to determine key business needs and the key problems the product must solve.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to work with multi-functional teams to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to differentiate “what is needed” from “what is wanted”.
  • Ability to understand what is required to create a successful application.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to work with individuals across organizational boundaries
  • strong agile experience
  • Good Azure DevOps experience for story creation and tracking
  • Well versed in writing user stories.
  • Well versed in backlog grooming and agile ceremonies
  • Has business and technical knowledge to determine requirements, write high level design docs, and test plans for large projects.
  • Ability to conduct gap analysis of current state to target state business architecture
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to bring clarity to complexity and communicate customer needs, architectural requirements, and product goals across cross-functional teams.
  • Learning agility related to business processes and technical solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and self-management skills.
  • Ensure design aligns with project goals, requirements and testing strategies.
  • Proven ability to ruthlessly prioritize between what we could do and what we should do to best serve our customers and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or related field.
     

Additional Skills & Knowledge

 

  • Proficiency with software used in the field of UX.
  • Provide input and feedback to finalize UI/UX deliverables (e.g., wireframes, clickable prototypes)
  • Attention to detail and the ability to make analytics decisions that improve quality of requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques.
  • Railroad industry knowledge a bonus.
