Under the guidance of the Director of Litigation & Claims, applicant shall have the responsibility of strategically managing and settling a portfolio of low to moderate exposure casualty and property damage claims involving the company’s various areas of operation. Shall be responsible for working closely with internal and external stakeholders to investigate claims and facilitate appropriate discussions to address risk, reserving and resolution of liabilities. 

 

Team Member shall have a strong grasp of how to investigate, document, and organize a claim file which facilitates quick and concise communication of strategic issues to senior management. Team Member shall use both jurisdictional and practical, real world claim experience to provide meaningful oversight of panel counsel tasked with representing the company in claims and lawsuits. Minimal travel and responsibility for conducting in-field investigations or attending dispute resolution activities on an as-needed basis.

 

Experience

 

  • Two (2) years of casualty and/or property damage claims experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior management of outside panel counsel and familiarity with the auditing of legal billing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of claims involving USL&H, Jones Act, and/or FELA law is preferred.

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Associates’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including Work, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Candidates will be subject to a background review. Since the position will have access to corporate financial information and a corporate credit card, the applicant’s credit history may play a role in the decision to extend an offer.
