Job Summary

The Rail Operations Support Representative is responsible for providing timely, professional, and courteous support to internal teams through phone, email, and in-person interactions. This role ensures accurate documentation and recordkeeping to maintain smooth operations. Success in this position requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing timely and professional support 
• Provide excellent customer service with patience, courtesy, and professionalism 
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure their satisfaction 
• Coordinate incoming orders with internal teams 
• Coordinate product delivery with outside carriers 
• Prepare accurate documentation and maintain required records 
• Perform accurate data entry, including dual verification of critical information when required 
• Provide general administrative support, including operating office equipment and maintaining organized files and records 
• Read, write, and communicate in English and perform basic math calculations to complete daily tasks accurately 
• Learn from feedback, directions, and observations and apply procedures using sound judgment 
• Contribute positively as part of a team, taking on additional tasks as needed 
• Maintain dependable attendance and consistent performance 
• Perform work in compliance with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements 
• Demonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating Principles 
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence 
• Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office 
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen 
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, providing clear information, explanations, and instructions in a professional manner 
• Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail in all tasks 
• Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness during periods of peak workload or frequent interruptions 
• Ability to recognize and define problems, identify resources, and implement viable solutions 
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision 
• Sound judgment and ability to work independently when needed

Education

High School or GED equivalent
