What can I expect?

 

As an intern at Watco Logistics, you'll get hands-on experience in areas ranging from day-to-day logistics Operations such as Account Management and Transportation Coordination to the various support functions of Procurement, Accounting and Design/Engineering. Learn about driving sales, building customer relationships, and managing freight operations. Our Account Managers are in charge of driving new sales and overseeing day-to-day freight management. They focus on providing quality service, boosting team morale, and maintaining a positive branch culture. The role involves developing new customer sales, utilizing diverse prospecting methods, cultivating sustainable customer relationships, delivering cost-effective solutions, and managing broker and customer service aspects for shipments and accounts to meet branch goals.

  • Develop new customer sales
  • Utilize various prospecting methods to generate new sales leads and solicit freight
  • Cultivate sustainable customer relationships and encourage customer growth
  • Deliver cost-effective solutions that will attract and retain customers
  • Manage broker and customer service aspects of assigned shipments and/or customer accounts

 

The Transportation Coordinators (TC) and Transportation Assistants (TA) manage day-to-day freight operations, focusing on cost-effective solutions and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include brokering shipments, tracking and supporting customer shipments, conducting pricing and rate negotiations, and ensuring compliance. The role contributes to a positive branch culture while delivering quality service to customers.

  • Broker transportation shipments and securing carrier capacity
  • Track & trace customer shipments
  • Provide customer support to meet their needs and address issues
  • Conduct spot pricing, rate negotiations to meet margin requirements, and ensure maximum profitability, and handle related concerns
  • Meet all customer compliance requirements including but not limited to level of service, lane compliance, and communication timeframe

 

Support Functions

  • Procurement-working with various suppliers ranging from motor carriers, intermodal and rail suppliers to secure capacity for movements each day.
  • Compliance-navigate the supplier contracting and vetting process to ensure suppliers have the proper operating authority and the necessary insurance to operate safely and effectively.
  • Freight Audit/Payment-understanding how suppliers invoice for their services and the processes developed to efficiently audit and a pay suppliers.
  • Customer Invoicing-ensuring timely and accurate invoicing to the client and pay terms.
  • Design / Engineering-developing the most efficient network design and pricing proposal for the client.
