Job Summary

 

The Shift Supervisor I reports directly to the Hub Operations Manager and is responsible for leading hub associates and/or temporary team members in all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, scanning, and processing inbound freight. The Shift Supervisor I ensures daily operational goals are met in accordance with company policies, established procedures, and safety standards.

 

The Shift Supervisor I must achieve performance objectives with the highest levels of safety, accuracy, efficiency, and teamwork, contributing directly to operational productivity and customer satisfaction. This position plays a key role in maintaining workflow, troubleshooting issues as they arise, and supporting the overall success of the facility through consistent communication and leadership.

 

The Shift Supervisor I is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, monitoring associate performance, assisting in the training and development of team members, and ensuring compliance with all company and regulatory requirements. The Shift Supervisor I is also accountable for promoting a positive and inclusive workplace culture while driving results that support departmental and organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide leadership, direction, and daily oversight to hub associates and/or temporary team members in the execution of warehouse operations.
  • Supervise all activities related to the receiving, sorting, scanning, and placement of inbound freight to ensure operational goals are achieved safely and efficiently.
  • Manage staffing schedules and daily labor assignments based on projected volume, ensuring adequate coverage to meet performance and service-level targets.
  • Maintain and organize inventory, ensuring accurate counts and proper placement of materials within the facility.
  • Inspect inbound products and materials for defects, damages, or discrepancies, and take appropriate corrective action when necessary.
  • Oversee the unloading, sorting, and staging of inbound freight to ensure workflow is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all team members comply with company safety, cleanliness, and operational standards at all times, including adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the day-shift transportation team and other departments to ensure smooth coordination of freight movement and operational handoffs.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize warehouse processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, setting the standard for operational excellence and accountability.
  • Assist in the training, development, and coaching of associates to promote skill growth, engagement, and readiness for future advancement.

  • Possession of a current forklift license or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
