This is a working Supervisor position
Job Summary
The Operations Supervisor responsible for leading safe, efficient, and compliant terminal operations while supporting customer requirements and business objectives. Oversees coal loading and delivery operations using heavy equipment, conveyors, and tractor trailers, ensuring smooth workflow and inventory accuracy. Promotes a strong safety culture through training, daily safety meetings, and enforcement of safety protocols. Maintains compliance with MSHA, EPA, and other state and federal regulations while driving operational performance, environmental stewardship, and financial results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintain consistent, dependable attendance and continually deliver an elevated level of performance
• Follow written and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately and on schedule
• Communicate with team members and managers verbally and electronically by reading, writing, and utilizing professional communication skills
• Utilize basic mathematical calculations to calculate flow rates, volumes, rates, and weights
• Execute operational procedures through directions, observations, and experience using sound judgment
• Lead by example and train team members Watco Safety and Operating Principles
• Assist the Terminal Manager in overseeing daily operations, prioritizing safety, environmental compliance, and financial stewardship
• Supervise, lead, train, and develop team members to achieve operational excellence
• Serve as backup for operators as needed to ensure uninterrupted service
• Maintain flexibility with various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends
• Ensure customer satisfaction through efficient, safe, and quality service
• Representing the company in customer meetings to build and strengthen relationships
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture among all team members
• Ensure all team members receive proper training and certifications required for their roles
• Coordinate routinely with support services to ensure alignment and compliance
• Complete and maintain all operational documentation and recordkeeping, including billing, train pre-release, and first car notifications
• Monitor and track train movements, including arrivals and departures
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location.
