Job Summary
The Scale Master is responsible for the accurate and courteous weighing of inbound and outbound trucks, proper handling and organization of shipping documentation, and timely posting of shipments into computerized inventory systems. This role also ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and customer expectations. The Scale Master must achieve performance goals with attention to detail, accuracy, professionalism, and efficiency, while maintaining excellent communication with drivers and team members. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations by ensuring that all shipment records are precise and up to date. The Scale Master will be accountable for adhering to safety standards, following company guidelines, and contributing to a productive and respectful work environment. They must demonstrate strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Accurately and courteously weigh inbound and outbound trucks, including face-to-face interaction with drivers. Responsible for organizing and handling shipping bills and posting shipments to computerized inventory systems.
• Ensure all work meets customer expectations and comply with company policies and procedures.
• Follow both written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Demonstrate the ability to take direction and supervision effectively, and interpret instructions as needed.
• Maintain predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
• Communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Learn and apply procedures through directions, observations, and previous experience, using sound judgment.
• Possess a working knowledge of Watco safety and operating principles.
• Work independently or as part of a team, interacting appropriately and professionally with others.
• Show self-motivation and the ability to complete projects with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail in all tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily and must also be able to obtain and/or pass all required reporting, testing, and certifications specific to this position and location. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with truck scales, and coursework or experience in accounting is considered a plus. Additionally, the candidate must be able to successfully complete all necessary training and required testing.
